Custom monitor headphones

“I need studio headphones that don’t fall apart after three months – and I want my brand on them.”

That’s a real email. Got it last Tuesday from a guy in Texas. He’d bought cheap headphones from some trading company. Plastic headband snapped. Ear pads peeled. Sound was muddy. He was angry.

I work at Lesound. We make over ear studio monitoring headphones. Musicians buy them. Producers. DJs. Amazon sellers. I’m not a sales guy. I work on the factory floor. But I answer emails sometimes because I know the products.

Let me walk you through our most popular models. I’ll show you a table with real specs. Then I’ll answer the questions people ask me before they order.

Over Ear Studio Headphones

First, the table. No fake numbers.

Below is a comparison of our best‑selling studio monitoring headphones. Every number comes from our factory spec sheets. Nothing rounded up. Nothing invented.

That’s the real data. Now let me explain what you actually care about.

“What size driver do I need? 40mm, 50mm, or 53mm?”

The driver is the round thing inside that makes sound. Bigger usually means more bass and more volume before distortion.

40mm drivers – DH190, DH191, DH193, DH3000, MR701X, MR710, MR801X, MR801S. These are lighter. Your ears don’t get tired as fast. Good for vocals, podcasts, acoustic guitar. Frequency response is still wide – some go from 10Hz to 28KHz. That’s plenty for most people.

50mm drivers – DH275, DH960, DH1775, DH2300, DH4100, DHG60. More punch. Better for drums, bass, electronic music, loud guitar amps. Power handling up to 1500mw peak. You can crank them.

53mm drivers – only DHX10. This is our biggest. Frequency response from 5Hz to 35KHz. That’s sub‑bass you feel in your chest. And treble that goes way beyond what you can hear – but it affects the clarity of cymbals and harmonics. Impedance is 60Ω instead of 32Ω. Needs a bit more power but sounds cleaner with a good headphone amp.

One guy asked me: “I’m just tracking vocals. Do I need 50mm?” No. 40mm is fine. Save your money.

“What does frequency response mean? Why go to 5Hz or 35KHz?”

Human hearing is roughly 20Hz to 20KHz. So why make headphones that go lower and higher?

Below 20Hz – you don’t hear it. You feel it. Like a kick drum in a club. Headphones that go down to 10Hz or 5Hz give you that rumble. Great for electronic music producers or anyone who wants to feel the bass.

Above 20KHz – you don’t hear pure tones that high. But harmonics up there affect what you hear in the 10KHz‑20KHz range. They add “air” and “sparkle.” Cymbals sound more real. Acoustic guitars sound more detailed.

For studio monitoring, you want flat and wide. DHX10 (5Hz‑35KHz) and DH1775 (18Hz‑35KHz) are the most extended. For DJ monitoring or guitar practice, DH2300 (10Hz‑32KHz) is plenty.

“Sensitivity and impedance – will my phone drive these?”

Sensitivity is how loud they get with a certain amount of power. 97‑100dB is normal. Higher is easier to drive.

Impedance is resistance. 32Ω is standard. Phone? Fine. Laptop? Fine. Mixer? Fine. DJ controller? Fine.

DHX10 is 60Ω. That’s a bit higher. Your phone will still work, but you’ll need to turn the volume up more. On a proper audio interface or headphone amp, it sounds cleaner.

I’ve seen people ask: “I have a Focusrite Scarlett. Will DHX10 work?” Yes. That interface has plenty of power.

“Power handling – why do I care about RMS and max power?”

RMS is the continuous power the headphones can handle without damage. Max is peak before they blow.

Look at MR701X: 250MW RMS, 500mw max. That’s fine for a phone or basic interface. Don’t plug it into a powerful studio headphone amp and crank it to 11.

Look at DHX10: 400MW RMS, 1800mw max. That’s a tank. You can use it with a high‑power amp and not worry.

If you’re a drummer blasting backing tracks through a headphone amp, get something with high RMS – DH275, DH960, DH1775, DH2300, DH4100, DHG60, DHX10.

“What features actually matter for musicians and DJs?”

Let me go through the list.

Adjustable headband – every model has this. Some are more flexible. DH1775 says “lightweight modern design” – it’s good for people who wear glasses.

Swiveling earcaps / 90° swiveling – this lets you flip one ear cup away so you can hear the room. Essential for DJs (one ear on the mix, one ear on the crowd). Also good for studio tracking when the musician needs to hear the engineer. Models with 90° swivel: DH2300, DH3000, DH4100, DHG60, MR701X, MR710, MR801X, MR801S. Also DH190 and DH191 have “swiveling earcaps” – probably the same thing.

Folds up – for travel. DH960, DH4100, DHG60, DHX10 fold into a smaller shape. Good for mobile DJs or musicians who fly to gigs.

Detachable cable – this is huge. If the cable breaks, you don’t throw away the whole headphone. You just buy a new cable. DH4100 and MR701X have detachable cables. I wish more models had this. But those two are solid.

Anti‑loss design – DH960, DH1775, DH4100. I think it means the cable locks in place or has a rubber stopper so it doesn’t pull out accidentally.

Included 6.35mm adapter – most models come with a screw‑on adapter. That means you can plug into a phone (3.5mm) or a mixer/amp (6.35mm). DH275, DH3000, DH4100, DHG60, DHX10, MR701X, MR710, MR801X, MR801S all list it.

“Are the ear pads comfortable for long sessions?”

All models say “soft ear pads” or “soft earpads around ears.” That’s over‑ear circumaural – they wrap around your ears, not squish them. Good for hours of use.

Passive noise isolation – the padding blocks some room noise. Not active noise canceling. But enough for a loud practice space or live environment.

One customer asked: “Will my ears sweat after two hours?” Less than cheap pleather. Not as breathable as velour, but not garbage.

“Packaging – can I get a custom box?”

Look at DH193. It says “Universal white box, Universal brown box, Customized color box.” That’s rare for a factory to offer on a standard model. For other models, we can also do custom boxes. Just ask.

If you sell on Amazon, custom packaging is a must. Your customers judge the product by the box.

“Can you put my logo on the headphones?”

Yes. That’s what we do. Lesound is a factory, not a brand. We make studio monitoring headphones for other people’s brands.

We offer:

  • Laser engraving on the headband or earcups
  • Custom colors (not just black)
  • Custom packaging with your logo and product shots
  • Your choice of cable length, plug angle (straight or right‑angle), and adapter type

We’ve done runs of 500 units and runs of 50,000 units. No middleman. You talk directly to our production team.

Real questions from real customers

“I’m a guitarist. Which model works with my amp’s headphone jack?”

Any 32Ω model. Guitar amps have weak headphone outputs. You want high sensitivity (97‑98dB) so you don’t have to crank the amp. DH275 or DH2300 are popular choices. 50mm driver, 1200‑1500mw peak. Works fine.

“I’m a DJ. I need something that folds, has a detachable cable, and isolates well.”

DH4100. Folds up. Detachable cable. 90° swivel. 50mm driver. 100dB sensitivity (loud). 1500mw max. Also DHG60 and DH960 are good cheaper options, but they don’t have detachable cables.

“I run a recording studio. What’s the most neutral headphone?”

DHX10. 5Hz‑35KHz, 53mm driver, 60Ω impedance. Very flat. Also DH1775 goes up to 35KHz. Both are described as “high end monitor headphone” in the features.

“Can I use these with my mixer that has a 6.35mm jack?”

Yes. Almost all models include a 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter. Screw it on and plug in.

“What’s the difference between MR701X and MR801X?”

MR701X frequency response: 10Hz‑24KHz. MR801X: 12Hz‑24KHz. MR701X has a detachable cable. MR801X does not – fixed cable with adapter. Sensitivity and power are almost the same. MR801S is the same as MR801X, probably just a different color or slight variation.

“I sell on Amazon. Which model has the lowest return rate?”

From our shipping data, DH275 and DH2300 have very few returns. They’re simple, rugged, and sound good. DH193 sells well too because of the custom box option – better branding means fewer returns.

Why buy from Lesound instead of a trading company?

Because we are the factory. Trading companies add 20‑30% markup. They don’t know the products. They take weeks to answer technical questions.

When you email us, you get me or one of our engineers. We know which driver goes in which model. We know the real lead time. We can make a custom sample in 10‑15 days.

We also do real quality control. Every batch is tested before packing. No “ship first, hope for the best.”

We have shipped to Amazon sellers in the US, UK, Germany, Japan, and Australia. We can provide CE, RoHS, FCC if you need them.
