I work at Lesound. We build stands. And almost every week, a DJ or rental guy asks me the same thing:
“Can I really use one stand for my speaker and also for my lights? Or is that just a marketing trick?”
Here’s the truth: yes, you can – if you stop buying the cheap stuff. I’ve seen too many wobbly stands ruin a gig. Let me tell you what actually works.
What DJs worry about most
I get emails like this all the time:
- “I play outdoor weddings. Grass is soft. Will the stand tip over?”
- “I have a 35lb speaker. Can I add a small light on the same pole?”
- “How do I stop the stand from sliding down? I hate twist knobs.”
- “Is there a pin that locks by itself? I don’t want to think about it.”
Those are real concerns. Not theory. So here’s how we built our heavy duty speaker stand to answer them.
The base – 12.5kg of solid steel
Look, a lighting stand square base that’s light? It’s useless outdoors. Our base is 12.5 kg – that’s about 27.5 pounds. Why so heavy? Because an outdoor speaker stand needs weight. Wind, uneven ground, someone bumping into it – a light base falls. Ours stays put.
Footprint is 55cm x 50cm. Wide enough for stability, but not so wide that it eats up your stage.
The auto-lock clutch – no more guessing
Most cheap portable dj stand models use a friction knob. You tighten it and hope. We use a metal auto-lock clutch. When you raise the pole, a steel pin clicks into the hole automatically. You hear a click, you’re done. That’s what makes it a real tall dj equipment stand – safe at full height (240cm / 94.5 inches).
And inside the tube? An air cushion. If you loosen the knob by accident, the stand doesn’t crash down on your fingers or your gear. It sinks slowly. One of my customers said: “I smashed my finger once on a cheap stand. Never again. This air cushion is a lifesaver.”
One stand, two jobs – speaker and light
The top has an M10 screw hole – that’s standard for lighting fixtures. But it also fits standard speaker mounts. So yeah, this is a real speaker light stand combo. Afternoon: mount a 15” powered speaker. Night: swap to a LED par can or a small moving head.
Max height 240cm. Min around 120cm. That’s a multipurpose stage stand that actually works for both.
Why buy from Lesound instead of some reseller?
I’ll be straight with you – you see the same stands on Amazon with different stickers. We actually make them. Welding, powder coating, assembly – all in our own factory.
That means:
- Quality control – every stand is load tested before it leaves.
- OEM custom – want a different base color? Your logo on the pole? Different height? Just ask. We do small runs.
- Direct price – no middleman markup.
We’ve sold to mobile DJs, churches, rental houses, and production crews. Most came to us after breaking two cheap stands in one season.
“But 12.5kg is heavy to carry, right?”
Yeah, it’s heavier than a flimsy aluminum stand. But here’s the thing: a portable dj stand that tips over during a live show is worthless – no matter how light it is. Ours collapses to about 120cm length, fits in a padded bag, and you carry it once. The stability is worth the extra weight.
For an outdoor speaker stand, that heavy base is your insurance.
Where do people actually use this?
- Outdoor weddings on grass or pavement
- Mobile DJ gigs with speakers and uplighting
- Small concert stages
- Church setups (quick change from sermon to evening event)
- Trade show booths
It’s a tall dj equipment stand that doesn’t wobble when you go full height.
Let’s talk about your setup
Every gig is different. Maybe you need rubber feet for marble floors. Maybe you need a different pole diameter. Tell me what you’re mounting – speaker weight, light type, indoor or outdoor.
Email us directly or leave a comment below. I’ll reply with a recommendation or an OEM custom quote. No bots – just real advice from the factory floor at Lesound.
We build stands that don’t let you down at 2am.
