How to Choose a Dual 4″ Line Array OEM Supplier for Outdoor Events?

“I need a PA system for 200 people outside. Will a dual 4” line array actually be loud enough, or is it a toy?”

That’s the exact message a guy from Texas sent me last week. He’d been burned before – bought a “portable line array” on Amazon that couldn’t even beat his phone speaker.

I work at Lesound. We’re a 4” line array China manufacturer. I’ve been here 9 years. I’ve tested dozens of systems. And I’ll tell you straight: most cheap line arrays are garbage. But the ones we build? Different story.

Let me walk you through our VS5000. Not the marketing fluff. The real stuff. The stuff you only learn after you’ve shipped 10,000 units.

 

 

First thing first: why dual 4” instead of one big 12” top?

A lot of people ask this. Here’s the short answer: coverage.

A regular speaker fires sound in a cone. Close to the stage? Your ears bleed. 30 meters back? You can’t hear the vocals. A dual 4” line array makes a cylinder wave. Sound drops way less over distance. So the guy in the back hears almost the same as the guy up front.

The numbers that matter (and the ones that are lies)

When I talk to customers, they always ask about watts. “1400W peak? That’s huge!”

Yeah, but peak means nothing. RMS is what counts. Our amp is Class-D, 500W+200W RMS (1400W peak). That’s honest.

• Max SPL: 121dB at 1 meter. Tested with pink noise for 30 minutes, not a single millisecond peak. That covers 150-200 people outdoors. Inside a bar or church? 300 easy.
• Frequency response: 55Hz – 20kHz. The 15” sub handles the low end. The 4” drivers do mids. The tweeter does highs.
• Crossover points: 120Hz and 2.5kHz. That means the sub stops at 120Hz. The 4” drivers take 120Hz-2.5kHz. The tweeter takes above 2.5kHz. Clean, no overlap.

No fake numbers. Our active speaker ODM China factory tests every batch. I’ve personally watched them stack 10 units in a room and run them at 90% volume for an hour. If one fails, the whole batch gets rechecked.

Q2: “Can I use the line array without the sub?”
No. The DSP crossover lives inside the sub. The line array boxes get signal above 120Hz only. Without the sub, you lose lows. But trust me – you want the sub anyway. It makes the whole system sound full.

Q3: “Bluetooth range?”
About 15 meters if nothing is in the way. TWS (True Wireless Stereo) lets you pair two VS5000 systems for left/right. That’s rare at this price.

No if you set it right. The DSP has a 6-band EQ (actually more, but you get ±6dB control). Cut 200-300Hz to reduce muddy feedback. Boost 3kHz for clarity. Also has reverb for worship singers, echo for karaoke nights.

Q5: “Warranty and spare parts?”

Three dumb mistakes buyers make

Mistake #1: Ignoring DSP.
Cheap systems have no processing. They sound harsh and boxy. Our VS5000 lets you save presets – “Indoor”, “Outdoor”, “Speech”, “Music”. You can also add echo, reverb, and guitar effects. Yes, GT Effects means you can plug in an electric guitar and get delay/reverb. It’s built in.

Mistake #2: Buying passive and then under-powering it.
